More than a decade of dancemusic... that's what Dutch dance act T-Spoon stands for. It started out back in 1993 with the eurodance classic "No Time 2 Waste" and still now they are rocking the dancefloors.
Let's take a trip down memory lane. Way back in 1993 two adventurous young men named Remy de Groot and Shalamon "Shamrock" Baskin got together to write one of the most powerful eurodance tracks of all time. With the help of Dutch vocalist Ingrid Simons they landed their first top 10 hit in the form of "No Time 2 Waste".
T-Spoon paved the way for dance acts like Sash! who chose to work with different vocalists on each single, making sure that each song sounded unique and different, but yet still being very dance-able. The second single was recorded with vocals of Dutch dance diva BB Queen. She took "Take Me 2 The Limit" to the limits and gave T-Spoon their second consecutive top 10 hit.
After the second single, people started taking T-Spoon very seriously as an up and coming dance act. The question that was on most peoples mind was... could they do it again? Would they be able to stay and produce more top hits? The answer as we all know now is... yes... they pulled it off again! For the third and fourth single T-Spoon sought the help of US jazz and blues vocalist Jean Shy. Both singles were very different from each other, "Where R U Now" being a very jazzy oriented eurodance track and "Mercedes Benz" being a Janis Joplin cover in a euro reggae style.
The popularity of T-Spoon was rising steadily but at the same time an important decision had to be made. Because T-Spoon used different vocalists on each single, it was very hard to do performances with all of them. So the decision was made to introduce a new female vocalist who could be heard on every single from then on, and who could also do the shows together with rapper Shamrock. "Mercedes Benz" was the first single to introduced the new female T-Spoon vocalist, Linda Estelle. She did not sing on "Mercedes Benz" but could be seen in the videoclip, dancing in the background.
For years T-Spoon consisted of 4 people on stage; Shamrock, Linda Estelle and the two amazing dancers Regillio and Anatevka. The four of them were unstoppable on stage and they made T-Spoon into one of the best Dutch live dance acts ever.
In 1997 Remy de Groot came back from holiday with the smash hit "Sex On The Beach". "Sex On The Beach" was the biggest summerhit of 1997. Holland and Belgium went crazy to this song. The tropical sound of "Sex On The Beach" scored bigtime and it spent months in the charts.
The "Sex On The Beach" hype finally infected other countries in 1998. Countries like Australia, South America, Japan (released as "Fun On The Beach"!), Ireland, Fiji Islands were among the countries where "Sex On The Beach" reached the top 5. In the UK they made quite a fuss over this song. It wasn't allowed to be broadcasted on air before midnight on the BBC who boycotted the song. But thanks to them we managed to enter the UK top 40 at No. 2, where "Sex On The Beach" stayed for several weeks.
At the end of 1998 Shamrock decided to take a break and was replaced by fellow American Greg Dillard, who gave T-Spoon a different twist. Up until now most T-Spoon songs contained male raps and female vocals. But with Greg joining team T-Spoon, male vocals became an equally important part in the group. Together with a new producer in the form of DJ Bobo producer Axel Breitung, they scored hits like the europop track "Got 2 Get You Back", the upbeat "Delicious" and the summer anthem "Summer Love".
In 2000 Greg left the band, leaving Linda to be the one and only vocalist within T-Spoon. She recorded tracks like "Rivers Of Babylon", "Sexy Lady" and "Alive & Kicking", before also leaving the band at the beginning of 2003... T-Spoon had no vocalists for a while...
At the end of 2002 a major promotion campaign started from one of Hollands biggest internet serviceprodiders, Zon. They used T-Spoon's first song "No Time 2 Waste" as the backingtrack, and people started requesting the track again. It wasn't very surprising to see a new remix of "No Time 2 Waste" being released as the anniversary single in 2003. The new remix brings a whole new trance sound to T-Spoon... but there was more! 2003 also sees the return of the original rapper and singer Shamrock and dancer Regillio to T-Spoon!
Now in the year 2008 T-Spoon are still performing LIVE and can be booked for your party or festival worldwide.
